Meet Your Instructor

Payton Regan
Payton Regan
Beginning Tap Program

Payton Regan brings more than 17 years of dance experience across ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, and musical theater, including tap, which she's been doing on and off since her very first class at age three. A History major and Mythology minor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Payton serves as Secretary of the Southern Illinois Dance Company and performs with the Marching Salukis Color Guard. This summer, she's been back in adult tap classes herself, dusting off the cobwebs and rediscovering just how fun it is to find that rhythm again. Her teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and focused on progress over perfection, exactly the spirit of The Dance Barre.

THE JOURNEY

Find Your Rhythm, Discover the Joy of Tap

Tap dancing isn't just for kids, and it's never too late to start. Whether you've always dreamed of trying it or want to dust off skills from long ago, our program offers the perfect introduction in a welcoming, adult-only space.

Along the way, you'll discover the full-body benefits of dance while building real skill, week by week.

Foundations of rhythm

Learn key tap sounds and steps, like heel drops and scuffs, building rhythmic patterns with your feet.

Syncopation

Add flair and personality to your tapping, bringing energy and musicality into every movement.

Choreography

By the end of the program, perform a routine that shows off everything you've learned.

No previous dance experience required — just curiosity and a willingness to move.
